Halloween Weekend for the Heart

heartFor Halloween , I decided to be the bride of a Chipotle Burrito. That’s because I heard I could get a free burrito if I had a Halloween outfit with tin foil on. I went to the Chipotle near Tenleytown to meet up with Patrick. The line was atrocious. It weaved around the inside of the restaurant, wrapping around tables. Everyone was there for a free burrito. I had my tin foil jewelry– including my 1,000 karat tin foil ring on. Patrick on YouTube But after standing in line for a while, I found out that this particular Chipotle wasn’t offering free burritos until 6 p.m. Well… it was noon and I was hungry. I went ahead and paid for the burrito. Meanwhile, the line got even longer and I had to eat while people bumped my chair and elbowed me in the head. It was not pleasant.

Neiman YouTubeThe day before Halloween, I went dumpster diving so I could make Patrick a Halloween outfit. He wanted to go as a YouTube sensation. Specifically– the “I like turtles ” boy. I got a box out of the trash, lined it with construction paper, and made it into the YouTube box. We even got Patrick the white and black makeup so he could look like the zombie boy. He didn’t use the makeup– only one other person “dressed up” for Halloween– but I had fun making it. BTY– I mentioned “dumpster diving” on my Twitter , and now I have a Freegan following me! Check out her blog — it’s pretty interesting. She donates the food she finds to the homeless.

On Saturday, we went down town for the Heart Walk sponsored by the American Heart Association . We walked about three miles to raise money and awareness for heart disease. We even heard a story from a boy who had a stroke at the age of 12. On this one day, participants helped raise more than $1.2 million. As an added benefit, it was a beautiful day!

On Sunday, Patrick and I went on a 4-mile hike at Rock Creek Park . The leaves were changing colors, and the sun was out. Mila Bath Afterwards, I gave our cats baths. Mila was calm. Now, she smells like coconut. I think she enjoys being in the water. Neiman fought me– so he just got rinsed. I only got a small injury on my knee. Overall, the baths were a success!

Also– I lost one pound this week. I’ve been trying to lose about 10 pounds, and really gear up to start training for a half marathon. You can follow my journey on my SparkPeople blog .
