I’ve read all about RT (re-tweeting) before. Some articles made sense, others seemed impossible (like commenting on why you’re retweeting something– hello??? Can you say 140 characters???) Mashable came out with this killer guide about how to RT and what types of tools are out there to make it easy.
This article makes me want to get an iPhone. I’m a huge Blackberry freak right now, but I’m looking to change when my contract is up. Of course– I like Verizon because I can get service in the Metro. Hmmm…. iPhone with cool apps? Blackberry that works underground? I got time to think about it.
The article also highlights Tweetdeck, which I’ve attempted to download multiple times. I always stop because I’m afraid I’ll spend hours going through hundreds of Twitter friends and I just don’t have the time (or patience).
Try out some of these apps and let me know what you think!

Lindsey, as “great” as Apple/iPhone may be, BlackBerry is STILL the #1 in handset sales (at least in the US) w/the Curve still being #1. Verizon/BlackBerry-RIM has made the attempt in trying to curve (pun not intended) the competition a bit, if not away from apple, by producing the Storm. There’s been a lot of mixed reviews but I believe that’s due in part to people being “spoiled” with an already full touch phone out for well over a year and the phone being released now 3 times!!
My gripe with Apple/iPhone is that it’s nothing but a Steve Jobs scam. Once you get sucked into iPhone and (hopefully not) buy one, Apple would of made & released a brand new phone as we have seen already this year. It’s only been a year since the iPhone 3G was released. Fast forward to today and low and behold, we have a new iPhone: the 3G S. Same phone, same look. Just “better” (supposedly). Look Lindsey, consider this: if Apple had to release the iPhone 3 times just to simply get to the point where PDA/BlackBerries are at now, what makes you think they have it right now? By the time you know it, they would of released ANOTHER iPhone exact same time next year and you’re gonna find yourself just like everyone else craving a new iPhone and waiting in line with all the pathetic people willing to shelve out a bad phone with atrocious service. Apple worse than what PC/Microsoft is with bugs.
Stay strong Lindsey & stick with your BlackBerry & UberTwitter. You’re doing just fine. Besides, you can download the BlackBerry App World for your BlackBerry as well (if compatible). No reason to give up a trusty phone now for something horrible later. About 90% of Apple’s apps is all rubbish anyway…
If you really want it or something like it, play it safe and just buy the Apple iPod Touch & use WiFi w/Twitteriffic or something. That’s what I do/use at work & home and I couldn’t be happier.
wait for summer when Apple going to release new iPhone. I wouldn’t get one now.
Do you use Firefox as your main browser? If so, then get TwitterFox Add-on. Its will display your latest fallow Twitter and allow you to RT, DM, Reply, Insert Current Link Location and Post Twitter. Its a great tool I recommend it.
Plus in about 5 years (i know too long) they will make all carriers to work in DC Metro. Unless they cancel this due to economical situation.
Lindsey,
Don’t let not having phone coverage in the subway stop you from thinking about the iPhone. The only time I miss being able to use my iPhone on the subway is when there is a problem and I’m delayed. With my old Verizon phone, I would call my wife and let her know. Now I have to wait until I’m above ground, and by then I’m 15 min from Vienna. But, my wife always has a book when she waits for me
So, yes it;s a little inconvenient not being able to use my iPhone when I’m underground…but I wouldn’t trade my iPhone for anything!
