It turns out that Republicans in the House tweet more than Democrats in the House and Senate combined. This information comes from the Congressional Research Service (which is funded with taxpayer dollars). They studied tweets recently, for two weeks. Here is the report.
(I found out about the study from Rep. John Shimkus(R-Il) who sent the Politico article through his tweet).
What are they tweeting about? According to the study, most tweets are like press releases and include a link. After that, lawmakers tweet about a Congressional action. Then, about their position on certain issues. They tweet about their personal lives the least, and rarely reply to tweets.
It’s an interesting a fairly fast read. There’s only about 10 pages of data and it includes graphs. Take a look. What do you think lawmakers should be tweeting about?
