Just found this link from @Hoarders on Twitter. They are looking for more families that are willing to go on the show. Here's the information: http://www.hoardersdocumentary.com

@City Girl: Someone who struggles with hoarding may need the help of more than just a professional organizer. The people profiled on "Hoarders" also get help from a therapist, though some refuse their assistance. Often family members try to help, but are not sure what to do and may grow impatient because there's isn't a quick, easy fix.

@Lindsey: Thanks for a great post. "Hoarders" does show extreme situations and can be very difficult to watch. Still, it puts the spotlight on a very real problem that many people have.

Great post with a lot of interesting points! I wonder if a certified professional organizer could help a hoarder if the hoarder isn't getting help to deal with this form of OCD or the other underlying issues. I don't think so.

One of my friends is a hoarder, and I didn't realize that when I had asked to stay two nights at her place. It was very tough not to say/do/clean anything, but most of all, it was tough to realize that my brilliant and beautiful friend was obviously struggling with some serious emotional issues.

I got hooked on Intervention last year (pun intended). After reading your post, I'll give Hoarders a chance when it airs :).
