NEWS RELEASE:

Lindsey Mastis has been nominated for two regional EMMY Awards through the NATAS National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter.

She is nominated in the following award categories:

  • BREAKING/SPOT NEWS (MULTIPLE REPORTS): Baltimore Bridge Collapse
  • CONTINUING COVERAGE: Baltimore Bridge Disaster

Lindsey Mastis was among the first team of journalists to report on the Baltimore Bridge Collapse.

“This story marked the first time I had to question whether the footage I saw online was authentic or generated by artificial intelligence,” Lindsey explains. “This was such a devastating and tragic event. I knew we couldn't report this on-air unless we had confirmation. It would take our news crew about an hour to get to the scene, so I began making calls from the newsroom. Within minutes, I could confirm the collapse was real and a search for survivors was underway.”

Lindsey Mastis has previously won four regional EMMY Awards.

The awards will be announced on June 21st.
